$400
Acrylic paint on canvas and repurposed acrylic sheet.
13.5” x 17.5” (This work is 3D).
In 2024, I painted “GOOD GOD” which was inspired by a cross emblem on a truck grill I saw parked at Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah. A silver cross made up of intersecting words “GOOD” and “GOD”. It felt very traditionally Southern but in a way I thought also looked really cool. I loved the design of the emblem and the chrome.
This year i have been thinking a lot about Christian Palestinians, as I come from a long line of them. We are a tight group. I wanted to have a conversation through this piece. Being an American, I see how politics and religion are linked very heavily; legislature and personal politics amongst conservatism (and more) are based on religion, much of it being Christianity. When i see those folks supporting the genocide against my people, it blows my mind that the land from which their savior comes from is what they want destroyed. The people from which their savior comes from are being eradicated. The book that they follow takes place where they’re watching everything burn. It makes no sense. There are Christians and churches in Gaza and all over Palestine. Its interesting to see people be blind to that. We are over there too.
